The sixth stream of the federal educational project “Farmer’s School” was launched in the Smolensk region

In the Smolensk region, the sixth stream of the federal educational project “Farmer’s School” was launched. The training takes place on the basis of the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy (SHAA), where 30 students began classes. Each of them plans to turn the acquired agricultural knowledge into a real business and contribute to the development of the regional agro-industrial complex.
The Farmer’s School project is being implemented by Rosselkhozbank together with the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. This year’s program focuses on three key areas:
Plant production;
Organization of production and processing of livestock products;
Agrotourism.
An important feature of the current recruitment was the participation of veterans: nine participants in a special military operation and their families were among the listeners.
Over five years of work, the project has proved its effectiveness: 177 Smolensk agrarians became graduates. Many of them today successfully run their own farms, create recognizable brands of farm products and create new jobs. Their experience shows that in modern agriculture there is a place for both large-scale agricultural holdings and small family productions.
Training for participants is free, but requires secondary vocational or higher specialized education. The project helps not only to gain knowledge, but also to build a sustainable business.
Governor Vasily Anokhin stressed that the task of the regional authorities is to create favorable conditions for agribusiness. The region has a comprehensive support system: reimbursement of production costs, stimulating subsidies for potatoes and vegetables, support for breeding livestock, as well as special grants for farmers, including participants and veterans of the SVO.
