In Japan, restarted stopped due to leakage of the nuclear power plant
Kansai Electric Power has resumed operation of the third power unit of the Mihama nuclear power plant located in Fukui Prefecture

The Japanese corporation Kansai Electric Power has resumed operation of the third power unit of the Mihama nuclear power plant located in Fukui Prefecture. Earlier, his work was interrupted due to the discovery of water droplets on the pipeline of one of the technical systems, reports Kyodo.
Manual shutdown of the reactor was made on September 18. This was preceded by the identification of traces of moisture by station personnel near the air outlet valve of the pipeline related to the steam generation system. There were no radioactive components in the collected liquid, and the radiation background indicators both on the territory of the facility and in the surrounding areas remained within normal limits.
It should be noted that in May 2026, the third unit of the Mihama nuclear power plant had to be put out of operation. Then the reason for the stop was the leakage of steam in the area of the location of one of the turbines, and the unit was returned to operation only on September 12.
The third Mihama reactor, along with other commercial power units in Japan, was shut down after the Fukushima-1 disaster. For the first time since the tragic events of 2011, this unit was re-launched in 2021.
