8 dead and 84 wounded: published statistics of road accidents with pedestrians in the Pskov region for 9 months

In the first nine months of 2026, 87 pedestrian accidents were reported in the region. As a result of these accidents, 84 people received injuries of varying severity, 8 people died, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Pskov region sooPskovski “MK in Pskov”.

Of particular concern is the fact that most accidents are caused by pedestrians themselves. Due to their own negligence and violation of the rules, 26 accidents occurred, in which 19 people were injured and 7 died. Accidents are recorded both at regulated crossings and in inappropriate places.

The DHS emphasizes the need for mutual responsibility. Drivers are urged to slow down in advance, especially in poor visibility and near pedestrian crossings. Pedestrians, in turn, need to cross the road only in established places, having previously made sure of safety, and be sure to use retroreflective elements (flickers) in the dark.
