FSB prevented sabotage on the gas pipeline in Kabardino-Balkaria // In Kabardino-Balkaria detained a suspect in the preparation of a terrorist attack on the gas pipeline

The FSB of Russia announced the prevention of sabotage on the gas pipeline in Kabardino-Balkaria. The court placed the suspect in custody, the Public Relations Center (PCC) of the department said.

According to the FSB, a native of the Chernihiv region of the Ukrainian SSR, born in 1986, who has Russian citizenship, arrived in Russia from Ukraine “as part of a humanitarian exchange” in 2025. A year earlier, he had established contact with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, according to the FSB.

On the instructions of the curator, the man was preparing to blow up the gas pipeline in the May district of Kabardino-Balkaria, the department said. The suspect was detained while trying to remove an improvised explosive device from the stash. A criminal case was opened against the man on preparation of sabotage (part 1 of Article 30, part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code), illegal possession of weapons (part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code) and treason (article 275 of the Criminal Code).
