Fraudsters under the guise of police officers, the FSB and other bodies began to extort money from Russians who returned from abroad, threatening to arrest accounts. About the new scheme of deception writes RIA Novosti with reference to the materials of the interior Ministry.
According to the Agency, the attackers write or call people and say that they during a trip abroad allegedly contacted banned and undesirable organizations in Russia. Then they begin to threaten the victim with checks, blocking accounts, imposing restrictions on leaving the country and criminal liability. To avoid punishment, scammers offer to transfer money to a “safe account” or perform other assignments.
The Interior Ministry regularly talks about new schemes of fraudsters. In particular, the attackers began to steal accounts in messengers under the pretext of receiving in-game currency and send fake letters from the tax office demanding to correct the declaration.
