The Kerch court sentenced to six months of restriction of freedom and recovered large compensation from the owner of the Crimean sushi bar, in which almost 30 people were poisoned by food. This “Kommersant” reported in the Prosecutor’s office of the Crimea.
The incident occurred in October 2024 in Kerch, when 27 people, including 13 minors, applied for medical help after visiting a cafe with symptoms of poisoning. All were subsequently diagnosed with salmonellosis. The TFR of the region opened a criminal case against the 30-year-old owner of the institution about the violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which led by negligence to mass disease and poisoning of people.
According to the investigation, the entrepreneur allowed to work employees who did not undergo mandatory medical examination. Failure to comply with the technological process and failure to ensure the safety of work with food products led to the spread of acute intestinal infection, according to law enforcement officers.
In addition to the restriction of freedom, the court also satisfied the claims of 13 minor victims. The culprit was ordered to pay 100 thousand rubles in their favor.
