A resident of Melitopol received 12 years in prison for espionage

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Court sentenced a resident of Melitopol to 12 years in a strict regime colony under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (espionage) for transferring secret information about Russian troops and special services to Ukrainian special services. This was reported by the press service of the court.

According to the investigation, in March 2022, Melitopolets began to cooperate with the Security Service of Ukraine and provide it with secret information about the locations of units, military equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as the places of residence of officers of the Russian army and Russian special services. The identity of the man and the circumstances of his detention are not disclosed. According to the court, he was a supporter of the Ukrainian regime and did not support the policy pursued by the Russian leadership, but "did not leave his hometown."
