The collision occurred at about 22:20 on October 9. The sergeant was crossing the Meridian along East 160th Street when another car crashed into the side of his patrol car. According to the agency, her driver drove at a red traffic light.
The investigation links the car to a shooting outside a Sonic restaurant on Meridian East. Several bullets hit the 36-year-old man's car.
After the collision, the driver of the alleged participants in the shooting left the scene of the accident. Police began searching and later found the car in the parking lot of Fred Meyer, located near East 176th Street and Meridian.
Two men were arrested as they left the store. According to the sheriff's office, one was driving and the other was a passenger. The passenger was found with a firearm.
The arrest went without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
