Escape from the traffic police ended badly: Mari El caught a drunk “racer”

The incident occurred in the village of Oktyabrsky Morkinsky district. The DPS crew drew attention to the Niva, the driver of which, at the sight of patrolmen, decided to give gas. Leaving the chase, the man raced through the streets, endangering others.

However, the route of the fugitive was short. On the next turn, the drunk motorist did not calculate the trajectory and crashed into a roadside boulder, dead stuck.

The police established the identity of the offender. He was a 41-year-old local resident. A medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in his blood. The inspectors drew up five administrative reports for the man. In addition to driving intoxicated and disobeying the lawful request of a police officer, he was charged with ignoring seat belts and managing technically defective vehicles.

Now the driver faces parting with a driver's license for up to two years, as well as fines totaling about 60 thousand rubles, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Mari El reported.
