Boeing flight London – Chicago gave a distress call and returned to the departure site
Flight London – Chicago is preparing for a priority landing at Heathrow Airport. The crew filed the Squawk 7700 code, which stands for a general emergency and does not itself indicate an imminent threat of disaster.

A passenger Boeing 777-236 (ER), flying from London to Chicago, signaled a general emergency and turned back to the airport of departure. This is evidenced by flight data, which was studied by RIA Novosti.
The plane took off from London at 12:14 local time (14:14 Minsk). On board is a transponder code Squawk 7700, which pilots use in case of a general emergency on board. After that, the aircraft lowered the height to 2.7 thousand meters and at 15:14 [Minsk time] took a course back to the British capital.
It has been circling over southern England and Wales for about two hours, generating fuel before landing. According to the service Flightradar24, published in the social network X, the destination of the aircraft all this time remains London Heathrow Airport.
According to experts, the installation of the code 7700 does not necessarily mean the presence of a direct threat of disaster, but only fixes the presence on board an emergency situation requiring priority landing.
