Former Deputy head of the Federal Tax Service in the Novgorod region was accused of large bribery

The former deputy head of the Federal Tax Service for the Novgorod region was charged with receiving a bribe in an especially large amount, the press service of the regional SU IC of the Russian Federation reported.

In 2025-2026, the defendant received 2.3 million rubles from an employee of a Novgorod commercial organization. For this, he had to commit illegal actions and, conversely, abandon legal actions to reduce the amount of VAT arrears.

The briber got the money in pieces. The size of one of the parts, which became fatal for the taxman, was one million rubles. It was at the receipt of this amount that the official was detained by employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation in the Novgorod region. At the request of the investigator, the court appointed the former deputy head of the tax service a preventive measure in the form of detention. The investigation is ongoing.
