“Road budget with " markup"”: in the Smolensk region convicted accountant for theft of 231.6 million rubles from the national project

Employees of the FSB of Russia in the Smolensk region suppressed the scheme of systemic theft of budget funds in the framework of the national project “Safe and high-quality roads”.

In the period from 2020 to 2022, the chief accountant of a commercial organization, acting as part of an organized criminal group from among the heads of road construction structures, supplied non-metallic materials for the needs of Smolenskavtodor.

The attackers entered into the accompanying documentation information about the inflated volumes and more expensive range of the supplied material. This allowed them to illegally withdraw 231.6 million rubles from the federal budget.

Based on the materials collected by the FSB, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fraud on an especially large scale committed by an organized group).

The decision of the Leninsky District Court found the offender guilty. She was sentenced to 5 years of probation and probation for 5 years. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
