The Vitebsk City Department of the Investigative Committee establishes the circumstances of the attempted fraud. This is reported on the website of the Investigative Committee, writes sb.by.

As the investigation established, in July of this year, a 60-year-old resident of Vitebsk fell into the hands of scammers and handed over two thousand rubles to the courier. The messenger was detained, but after initiating a criminal case, the pensioner did not cease to communicate with the attackers. The man discussed with the scammers every step, and they convinced him that they are the true law enforcement officers, and the investigators who came to him are fake.
After some time, the victim was persuaded to sell his own home and found a realtor for the deal. The pensioner was promised that the apartment would return. The man reported on each stage of the sale to the curators in the messenger, including the receipt of a deposit of three thousand rubles from the buyer.
A resident of Vitebsk had doubts after the phrase: “The sale of an apartment will help catch scammers from Ukraine.” It was then that he suspected something was wrong and turned to law enforcement.
Thus, Vitebsk pensioner almost lost the apartment, which was going to sell for 125 thousand rubles.
The Vitebsk City Department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 4 of Article 209 (attempted fraud committed on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Currently, investigative actions and operational-search measures are being carried out to identify the persons who committed this crime.
