In Voronezh, a 64-year-old woman working as a design engineer became a victim of phone scams. The scammers called her, introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and said that she was suspected of treason. To "check the savings," they persuaded the victim to pass on the valuables. At night, a courier came to her house on Moskovsky Prospect and took gold bars and coins worth 1.5 million rubles. In addition, under psychological pressure, the woman transferred 1.57 million rubles from personal savings to the accounts of fraudsters. The total damage exceeded 3 million rubles.
Over the past day, 11 people suffered from the actions of cybercriminals in the region, and the amount of damage amounted to more than 3.8 million rubles. On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
True law enforcement officers never require the transfer of money, gold, or funds to so-called “safe accounts.”.
