Employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg, together with the FSB of Russia in the region, detained two men who acted as intermediaries in giving a bribe in an especially large amount - at least 21 million rubles. This is reported by the press service of the St. Petersburg police.
The investigation was conducted within the framework of the criminal case initiated on November 2 under part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery for several million). As it was previously established, one of the detainees spoke with the general director of a commercial organization and invited him to choose him as an intermediary for transferring a bribe to the tax authority.
The purpose of the “operation” was fraud with taxes: the body was supposed to exclude the company from the inspection plan, not to find tax arrears in them and not to bring the head to justice. The mediator was detained red-handed on November 2 in a cafe in Alexander Park.
Along with him, the detainee was an employee of the tax organization, who had to take the money for the supervisory authority. The investigation is ongoing, specialists identify all the members of the group and look for other episodes.
