Kostroma regional court upheld the sentence for attempted bribery

The judicial board for criminal cases of the Kostroma Regional Court considered the appeal of a 48-year-old resident of the Moscow region against the verdict of the Leninsky District Court.

The convict, driving while intoxicated, was stopped by traffic police in Kostroma on January 3. Wanting to avoid liability, he twice offered inspectors a bribe in the amount of 50,000 rubles. The police refused the money and brought the information to the investigation.

The Leninsky court found the man guilty under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and imposed a penalty in the form of a fine of 200,000 rubles with the confiscation of 50,000 rubles (the amount of a bribe).

The judicial board, taking into account the position of the prosecutor's office, recognized the sentence as lawful and fair. The convict is denied commutation. The sentence has entered into force.
