Courier of telephone fraudsters received 4 years for cheating 86-year-old Tomsk
Pensioner-tomichka transferred almost 1.2 million rubles, believing in the “check of bills”

The Soviet district court of Tomsk sentenced a 22-year-old resident of the Novosibirsk region. He was found guilty of fraud.
So, in April 2026, the defendant together with his accomplices deceived the 86-year-old Tomsk. The attackers posed as employees of controlling agencies and law enforcement agencies. They informed the pensioner about the issuance of a power of attorney on her behalf and an attempt to withdraw money from the account, after which they convinced the woman to transfer all savings to the courier. Allegedly, funds were needed to identify fake bills and take fingerprints.
As a result, almost 1.2 million rubles were stolen from the pensioner. The courier threw the money into the nearest garbage can and reported it to an accomplice. A few days later, the defendant was detained by law enforcement officers in Novosibirsk.
The court sentenced him to 4 years in prison with serving a sentence in a general regime colony. Victim's claim granted.
