The measure of restraint in the form of detention was sanctioned against a 59-year-old previously convicted citizen who is accused of committing theft, the Frunze district prosecutor’s office told the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency.

The accused, since 1994, 20 times brought to criminal responsibility, abuses alcoholic beverages. At about 17:00 on July 7, 2026, he stole from the entrance of a residential building on P. Panchenko street a bicycle worth 819 BYN, which he sold to random passers-by.

- The accused is divorced, is not officially employed anywhere, has previously been repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility, including for committing property crimes, has a criminal record that has not been removed and not extinguished in the manner prescribed by law, said Andrei Serbun, deputy prosecutor of the Frunze district. He was charged with repeated theft of property (theft), that is, in committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code. The citizen fully admitted the guilt, the damage was not compensated. A preventive measure in the form of remand in custody has been sanctioned against him.
