Fraudsters use new method to intimidate pensioners
To continue receiving payments in the usual way, attackers offer to issue a “waiver” from conversion

Cases of deception of elderly citizens associated with the digital ruble have been recorded. Scammers call pensioners, posing as bank employees, and report on the alleged impending forced transfer of their pension into digital rubles.
In order to continue receiving payments in the usual way, the attackers offer to issue a “waiver” from conversion, the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Krasnodar Territory reports. To do this, older people are asked for a code from an SMS message. Having received it, fraudsters open access to other people's accounts.
The regional prosecutor’s office explains that the legislation does not provide for automatic transfer of pension savings into digital rubles. The Ministry calls on citizens to be vigilant and recalls the inadmissibility of transferring personal data and confirmation codes to unauthorized persons.
Earlier, the man lost his savings by joining a house chat. He received a call from an unknown person, who informed the man that his data from the application “Public Services” were allegedly at the disposal of fraudsters. The false employee persuaded him to transfer all available savings to an unspecified account for verification.
