Fraudsters stole from residents of the Tula region more than 5.7 million rubles per week
During the week from 19 to 25 October 2026, 12 residents of the Tula region became victims of telephone and Internet fraudsters

During the week from 19 to 25 October 2026, 12 residents of the Tula region became victims of telephone and Internet fraudsters. In total, the attackers stole more than 5.7 million rubles from them. The investigation of one of the criminal cases is under the control of the prosecutor's office.
According to the supervisory authority, scammers used different methods of deception. They contacted people through messengers and social networks, posted ads on the Internet and made phone calls. Fraudsters posed as employees of banks and law enforcement agencies, employers, sellers of household goods and electronics, as well as representatives of housing and communal services organizations.
Under various pretexts, the attackers persuaded citizens to transfer money to so-called secure accounts, transfer cash to people posing as law enforcement officers, pay for the replacement of intercoms or purchases of goods. As a result, residents of the region lost their savings.
One such case occurred in Tula. The woman decided to buy a laptop through the ad site. The seller offered her to follow the link to arrange delivery and pay for the goods. The buyer indicated the address of receipt and entered the bank card details. After that, more than 90 thousand rubles were written off from her account. When the money was stolen, the seller stopped responding.
On this fact, a criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud. Investigative authorities conduct operational-search measures to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify persons involved in the crime.
The Prosecutor’s office of the Tula region urges residents to be careful when shopping online. Do not follow third-party links sent by sellers on ad sites. Payment is recommended directly through the site or application platform.
Earlier, MK in Tula reported that most often phone scammers attack people with children - they accounted for 51% of unwanted calls. According to "Banky.ru", mostly call men 35-44 years.
