Fraudsters lured from a pensioner from Minusinsk more than 10 million rubles
66-year-old woman from Minusinsk transferred 10.2 million rubles to phone scammers

A 66-year-old woman from Minusinsk transferred 10.2 million rubles to phone scammers. This was reported in the Prosecutor’s office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The story began on Aug. The pensioner wrote a stranger, who introduced herself as Elena, and offered to join the house chat. The woman followed the link. Instead of communicating with neighbors, she received a notification about the hacking of her account on the portal “State Services”.
Almost immediately, a man called calling himself an employee of Roskomnadzor. He said that on behalf of the woman, the fraudsters issued a power of attorney for a citizen of Ukraine and gained access to her accounts. The interlocutor threatened criminal prosecution. According to him, the only way to avoid problems was to transfer all funds to a “safe account”.
The pensioner started withdrawing money. She went to the banks of Minusinsk and Abakan. Employees of financial institutions asked why she such amounts. Scammers have prepared a legend in advance: to say that money is needed for rest or business development. In fact, the woman transferred savings to unknown accounts through an ATM. When her money ran out, she took out loans.
The pensioner realized that she was cheated only when the scammers demanded to pay a “tax for storing money in the Central Bank.” The woman went to the police. The first check showed that there were no extraneous entrances to her account on the State Services, as well as loans issued by unknown persons.
On this fact, a criminal case was opened on fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). An investigation is under way.
