In South Korea, police detained a suspect in the murder of his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife. The crime took place in Seoul amid a divorce trial.
The alleged attacker took his wife to Gangwondo province, where she was found alive. The man was detained about seven hours after the first report of the attack, reports Newsis.
On the morning of October 11, at 05:38 local time, the police received an alarm call. Eyewitnesses said that the unknown is trying to forcibly take away the woman, and next to the street is another victim.
Arriving in the area of Mundjondong, officers found a 50-year-old woman with a knife wound. She was in a state of cardiac arrest. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her life.
The investigation revealed that the deceased was the mother of the wife of the alleged attacker. The man and his wife, who are also between 20 and 29, were divorced and living separately.
According to investigators, after the attack, the suspect forcibly put his wife in a car and left Seoul in the direction of Gangwon Province. The Metropolitan police organized the search together with local law enforcement officers.
At about 10:30 a.m., officers found a car and a kidnapped woman in the mountainous area of Yangyang County. According to police, her life was not threatened. However, the alleged kidnapper was not nearby, so the search continued. At 12:35, police detained a man in the same area.
The suspect will be questioned to establish the circumstances of the attack and possible motive. Police also plan to seek judicial permission to remand him in custody.
According to South Korean media, previously against the man has already received a statement of domestic violence. However, the circumstances of the previous trial and its possible connection to the murder have not yet been established.
