There were 26 fires in Mari El last week
During the week from 5 to 11 October, 26 fires were registered in Mari El.
The peak of the number of fires fell on the weekend: on Saturday and Sunday, firefighters went to the fires six times, while on Tuesday and Wednesday there was one fire.
The geography of the fires covered most of the country. Eight times burned in Yoshkar-Ola, six times in the Medvedev district. Two fires occurred in Volzhsk and Zvenihiv district.
Residential buildings (15 cases) and household garbage (7 cases) were mostly burned. One vehicle and an industrial facility were affected. Thanks to the prompt work of rescuers, there were no human casualties. 14 buildings and a car were burned, and ten more buildings were damaged.
The main culprits of the fires are faulty electrical wiring, breakage of heating furnaces and elementary negligence in handling the fire, reported in the state fire service.
