Novosibirsk sent to court for spending 25 thousand from the found wallet

The incident occurred in August 2026. The man found on the street a wallet with 25 thousand rubles and a driver's license of the owner. Instead of trying to recover it, he took it and spent the money.

The owner of the wallet went to the police. Law enforcement officers examined the recordings from CCTV cameras and were able to establish the identity of the man. During the investigation, he admitted guilt, repented of what he had done and compensated for the damage caused.

The prosecutor's office of the Pervomaysky district approved the indictment. The circumstances of the case must now be assessed by the court.

Law enforcement officers remind: the appropriation of any things found on the street, money or gadgets without trying to contact the owner or report to the police legally qualifies as criminal theft.
