The UK Maritime Trade Coordination Centre (UKMTO) has reported the loss of a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. As a result of an unknown projectile hit, the ship's engine room was damaged.

The UK Maritime Trade Coordination Centre (UKMTO) has reported the loss of a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. As a result of an unknown projectile hit, the ship's engine room was damaged.

“Crew members are safe,” the UKMTO said in a statement. Other details of the incident have not yet been provided.

The name of the tanker, its port of registry and the exact location of the incident are not disclosed. Earlier, the UKMTO reported five more tankers hit in the Strait of Hormuz between 30 September and 2 October.
