A search of an elderly Russian woman turned into the discovery of a rifle, grenades and gunpowder

An entire arsenal of weapons and ammunition was found in the apartment of a 65-year-old resident of St. Petersburg. The search took place in the Primorsky district of the city, reports GU MIA of Russia in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.

In the room found two items that look like grenades, as well as 18 items similar to the components of weapons. In addition, officers seized two suspected rifles and an object resembling a gun.

The apartment also contained 2,152 rounds of ammunition and a can with a substance similar to gunpowder. All discovered objects were sent to specialists for research.

The examination confirmed that at least 75 seized cartridges of 7.62 mm caliber are suitable for the production of shots. One of the rifles found turned out to be a Mosin combat rifle and was recognized as a rifled firearm.

The contents of the bank were also investigated. Experts found that it contained 256.7 grams of gunpowder related to throwing explosives.

Law enforcement officers checked the information on the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and found out that the discovered weapon on the landlady of the apartment was not registered. The origin of the arsenal and the circumstances of its appearance in a woman are established.

As a result of the inspection, criminal cases were initiated. The investigation is ongoing. The legal assessment of the remaining seized items, including the alleged grenades and parts of weapons, is not provided in the report.
