In the Canadian province of British Columbia, experts caught a grizzly, which, previously, tore two women in the area of Bella Kula. This was reported by the Provincial Conservation Service (BCCOS).
The remains of the first victim were found on Monday near the tourist trail Snooka West, the second – a day later. They turned out to be mother and daughter.
The captured animal was placed under surveillance. Specialists will conduct DNA testing and other studies to establish whether it was involved in the attack. BCCOS said bears involved in the deaths of women will be put to sleep. If it turns out that the beast has nothing to do with what happened, he will be released.
The EPA also has forensic findings and other material related to a grizzly attack in the same area in 2025. Then the predator attacked a group of schoolchildren and teachers: injured 11 people.
The search for other possible participants in the current attack continues. BCCOS has not yet determined how many bears may have been involved in the deaths. Residents and guests of the area were urged not to approach the Snooka West Trail.
