St. Petersburg police published footage from the scene of the accident with a monument of military glory on Lenin Avenue. The recording appeared in the telegram channel of the department.

The accident occurred at the house No. 103 on Lenin Avenue in Krasny Selo. The car suffered serious damage.

"According to preliminary information, the Volkswagen Passat hit the curbstone of the monument of military glory, and then crashed into the stairs of the monument," the ministry said.

Police arrested the 31-year-old driver. He was taken to the police station. He faces up to 30 days of arrest.
