In the district of Onega police detained fishermen-violators

In the district of Onega police detained fishermen-violators. This was reported by the press service of the MIA in the Arkhangelsk region.
During the operational-preventive operation on the coast of the White Sea, officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Onega” together with the inspector of the Fish Guard found two local residents. Men born in 1972 and 1987 fished by seine. They seized 135 navags, as well as smelt and flounder.
It turned out that fishermen caught fish during the migration to spawning sites with the help of a prohibited fishing gear. The net and the catch were confiscated.
The men opened a criminal case under the article on the illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources by a group of persons. An inquest is underway.
The police reminded that when amateur fishing it is important to comply with the terms of the ban and use only allowed tackle. Illegal fishing, especially during spawning, harms the ecosystem of the region.
