Theft of goods and a blow to the forehead led Novgorod to a special regime colony

In Veliky Novgorod, a man was sentenced, who decided to profit from the store, but eventually received a real sentence for attempted robbery, the press service of the courts of the Novgorod region reported.

It happened on January 31, 2026. The man entered one of the supermarkets and began to act as shoplifters usually act: he collected goods, hid them under his jacket and headed to the exit, without even thinking of paying at the checkout. However, it did not go unnoticed.

He was stopped by an employee of the outlet and demanded the return of unpaid products. Instead of obeying, the attacker used force: he struck a store employee head in the forehead with a sweep, causing him pain, and wanted to escape, but failed. The thief was detained and handed over to the police, and he threw the abducted one right in the store. The cost of "mining" was modest - 1139 rubles 98 kopecks.

At the trial, it turned out that this is not the first “feat” of the defendant. He already had two convictions for serious crimes with real terms of imprisonment. The court regarded this as a particularly dangerous relapse and considered it an aggravating circumstance. As mitigating factors took his partial admission of guilt and remorse for what he did.

As a result, the Novgorod district court sentenced him to two years in prison. He will serve his term in a correctional colony of special regime, and after leaving for another six months will be under restriction of freedom. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force, and the convicted person has the right to appeal it.
