Buying winter tires online ended in a criminal case

Saratov police contacted a 64-year-old local resident who was the victim of a remote fraud.

The man found an announcement on the network about the sale of a set of winter tires and contacted the seller to make a deal. Having agreed on the terms of purchase, Saratov transferred the money to the seller through a mobile banking application. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Saratov region.

But the buyer never received the paid goods, after which he decided to contact law enforcement agencies. Previously, police officers had already conducted preventive interviews with the man, during which they explained to him such schemes of deception.

On the fact of what happened, a criminal case was opened. The actions of the attacker are qualified under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. At present, the necessary investigative measures are being carried out in this case aimed at identifying the persons involved in the commission of the crime.
