The State Fire Supervision of the EMERCOM of Russia announced to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) five warnings because of false fire alarms in the dormitory and educational buildings. The relevant information is posted on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
As follows from the documents, in August of this year, the fire alarm was falsely triggered at least three times in the hostel No. 8 on Khlopina Street and in four educational buildings on Polytechnic Street.
According to the rules of fire supervision, if the fire alarm system falsely fires three or more times in a month at a facility where 50 or more people are at the same time, this is considered an indicator of risk and a sign of possible equipment malfunction. As a result, the inspectors demanded from the university management to take measures and ensure the proper operation of the fire alarm system.
The Vice-Rector for Infrastructure Development and Security of the Polytechnic University is Stanislav Vladimirov. His area of responsibility includes the operation and maintenance of university facilities, as well as ensuring their proper technical, sanitary and fire-fighting condition.
