Prosecutor requested 8 years in prison for ex-rector of Pskov State University Natalia Ilyina

Today, the Pskov City Court completed the judicial investigation in the criminal case against the former rector of Pskov State University Natalia Ilyina. She is accused of fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and exceeding official powers (P. “e” Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In the debate of the parties, the public prosecutor stated that the guilt of the defendant was fully proved by the case file. The prosecutor asked the court to impose a punishment of 8 years imprisonment in a general regime colony, a fine of 1 million rubles and a ban on working in the field of education for a period of 3 years.

The meeting was suspended until 14:30 on October 15, 2026. On this day, the second defender and Natalia Ilyina herself will speak with the last word.
