The spill of 200 tons of diesel eliminated in Taimyr

The state of emergency was removed in Taimyr after the liquidation of the consequences of a diesel fuel spill in the village of Sondassko. This was reported by the head of Taimyr Alexei Members.

The accident occurred on September 15 after a storm in the Khatanga Bay of the Laptev Sea. Due to rising water levels, a fuel tank for a local power plant was damaged, resulting in a spill of about 200 tons of fuel.

The storm also led to the entry of sea water into the lake, which is the source of water supply for the village. To eliminate the consequences of the accident, an emergency regime was introduced in Sondassko.

According to Memberov, emergency work has been completed, and the power supply to the village has been fully restored. Diesel fuel was delivered to Sondassko on the Anabar tanker. About 500 people live in the village.
