Russian ordered to pay 55.5 million rubles for cow grazing in one place

In the Krasnodar Territory, the court recovered 55.5 million rubles from a local resident. The reason was the uncontrolled grazing of cows on the territory of the natural monument “Mount Gorelai”. The decision was reported by the regional Ministry of Natural Resources in the Telegram channel. The violation was revealed in May 2023: the herd freely moved through the protected area in the Temryuk district, where economic activity is prohibited.

According to the agency, trampling of the soil completely destroyed the habitat of animals listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. Specialists of the Ministry calculated the exact amount of environmental damage - 55 536 485.38 rubles.

The courts of three instances recognized the claims as justified, the decisions entered into legal force. Now the owner of farm animals will have to reimburse the entire amount.

Mountain Gorelaia is located between the villages of Garkusha and Coast. It received the status of a natural monument of regional importance in August 2021. The security regime was established to preserve a unique landscape that represents recreational, health and aesthetic value.
