Russian fined hundreds of thousands for a drunken trip on an electric scooter

The Nadym City Court heard the case of a local resident. The man was found guilty of driving an electric scooter in a state of alcoholic intoxication. He was fined 200 thousand rubles and a ban on activities related to the management of mechanical transport for 2.5 years. It was reported in court.

The incident occurred in May 2026. The man was riding on an electric scooter, failed to manage and overturned the transport. During the interrogation, he did not hide that he was drunk.

In court, the defendant tried to prove that the scooter does not belong to mechanical vehicles. However, the judge explained: the nominal power of the engine model is 0.45 kW. These are standard indicators of motor vehicles.

With this in mind, the court qualified the actions of the man under the article on the management of mechanical transport in a state of intoxication. The penalty is a fine of 200 thousand rubles. In addition, a ban on activities related to the management of mechanical transport is imposed for two years and six months.

In Sovetsk, the prosecutor’s office demands to recover 100 thousand rubles of compensation for moral damage from a local resident who on March 29 shot down a 79-year-old pensioner on the sidewalk on an electric scooter. The woman suffered a bruise to the soft tissues of the back of her head and is still anxious when going outside, and a court hearing on the lawsuit is scheduled for November 16.
