Kirovsky district court of St. Petersburg sentenced a local resident: two years for the murder of mother-in-law in a state of affect. Initially, the woman was charged with murder, but during the process of the accused were requalified, the joint press service of city courts reported.
According to the court, the accused, her husband, children and her husband’s 60-year-old mother lived in the same apartment for a long time. Throughout her life together, her mother-in-law abused alcohol, conflicted with her son’s family and insulted them.
On the evening of September 28, 2025, the St. Petersburg woman returned home in a state of alcoholic intoxication and began screaming at her daughter-in-law. Continuing to argue, she went to her room.
Asked to stop screaming, the woman wished death to the young son of the Russian woman and her entire family. After that, being in a state of affect, the defendant struck her mother-in-law with a kitchen knife in the chest. From the wound, the victim died in hospital.
During the trial, the defendant stated that she did not plan to kill a relative. She said she struck because she had "run out of patience" and could no longer stand screaming.
The court reclassified the actions of the woman under Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed in a state of sudden strong emotional excitement) and imposed a punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for a period of two years.
