Russian tourists told about the consequences of the earthquake in Panama

Eyewitnesses from among Russian tourists shared details of what happened. According to them, the most intense fluctuations were felt on the upper floors of buildings, according to the Telegram channel SHOT. In the living quarters, furniture fell and dishes broke, glass flew out of the windows, and the entrance doors knocked out of the openings. During repeated aftershocks, plaster fell from the ceiling on one of the tourists.

The disaster caused serious damage to infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates, more than 400 buildings were damaged, including houses, schools, churches and hotel complexes. In the city of Penonome partially collapsed hotel building, located in close proximity to the scene. About 300 people were evacuated for security reasons.

After the main seismic impact, experts recorded more than 100 aftershocks. Rescue services continue to work in an enhanced mode, assessing the extent of destruction and providing assistance to the population.
