With the onset of cold weather, residents of the Pskov region begin to actively use furnaces, gas and electric heaters. However, neglect of safety regulations during this period often leads to tragedies.
Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Pskov region reminds how to safely survive the winter.
Trust only professionals: stove masonry should be performed by a specialist who knows the standards of fire safety.
Pre-season inspection: before the start of the season, check the oven, clean the chimneys of soot and be sure to whitewash them (cracks are immediately visible on the whitewash).
Protect the house from fire: if the floor is wooden, place in front of the furnace a metal sheet measuring 700x500 mm on asbestos cardboard. Walls of combustible materials next to the stove must be plastered on a grid or sheathed with metal. The distance from the furnace to the opposite wall should be at least 1.25 meters.
Strict prohibitions: you can not sink the stove in the presence of cracks; leave the burning stove unattended (and even more so entrust supervision to children); store firewood directly on the pre-flow sheet; use gasoline and kerosene for ignition; reheat the stove.
Ventilation: before turning on the gas and during the operation of the devices, the window should be opened.
The rule of lighting: first light a match, bring to the burner, and only then open the tap.
Prevention: regularly order inspection of gas equipment from specialists (for this you need to conclude a contract).
Strict prohibitions: you can not check the gas leak with a lighter (use only soap solution); use a gas stove to heat the room; repair the gas pipes yourself; leave the gas on unattended.
Wiring revision: Do not use wires with damaged insulation and sockets that spark or stagger.
Heaters: Use only appliances with proper thermal protection (thermoregulator). Forget about homemade heaters.
Lighting: Do not wrap incandescent lamps with paper or cloth and do not use lamps without protective caps.
Strict prohibitions: you can not leave the included heaters unattended (even in standby mode); lay wires on combustible surfaces; include too many powerful appliances in one extension cord.
Remember, your vigilance is a guarantee of the safety of your family. At the first sign of a fire, call 101 or 112!
