A 33-year-old Russian man has suffered a dangerous infection while traveling to Vietnam. The first signs of malaise appeared in him right in the restaurant where he had dinner with his wife. The man felt a sharp deterioration in health, but the couple chose not to interrupt the evening. Upon returning home, the Russian recorded an increase in body temperature to 39 degrees.
Despite the high fever, the man refused to apply to a medical institution. He limited himself to taking an antipyretic drug and spent three days at home, according to the Telegram channel SHOT. When the temperature normalized, the tourist considered that the danger had passed, and went to meet with friends. However, by the evening of the same day, the symptoms returned, and the next day a rash appeared on the skin and numbness of the lower extremities occurred.
Only after that, the Russian decided to seek professional help. The diagnosis was confirmed after 3 days - the patient was diagnosed with dengue fever. Currently, the condition of the man is assessed as satisfactory, and he notes that now he does not leave the house without insect protection.
Vietnam is now experiencing a seasonal rise in dengue. According to data for 2026, over 106 thousand cases of infection have already been recorded in the country. The causative agent of the disease is transmitted through mosquito bites.
