The secret operation turned for the Muscovite loss of 225 million
Subsequently, the man was persuaded to participate in a “secret operation” to save savings and declare them.

The Prosecutor’s office controls the identification of persons involved in the theft of 225 million rubles from a resident of Moscow. The victim of phone scams was a man who was convinced of the need to assist law enforcement and save his own savings. This is reported by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office.
The first step of the scheme was an SMS allegedly from the state body with the requirement to clarify the data. After clicking on the link and entering the received code, the Muscovite received a notification of hacking of his personal account. Then he got a call from a woman who introduced herself as an employee of the “department for combating fraud”, and connected him with a man who called himself a security officer. He reported false information about the power of attorney, allegedly issued on behalf of the victim, lured information about the property status and persuaded to install a mobile application.
Subsequently, the man was persuaded to participate in a “secret operation” to save savings and declare them. According to the instructions of the attackers, the victim extracted gold coins worth 12 million rubles from the bank cell and handed them over to the courier who called the code word. Then he sold the shares, after which for several months he withdrew the savings from the accounts and gave it to unknown people who reported the password.
Realizing that he was deceived, the man appealed to law enforcement agencies. The total amount of damage was 225 million rubles. The identification of persons involved in the crime was taken over by the supervisory authority.
