In the California city of San Diego in the private residential sector of the Lake Murray area, police found the bodies of three people with gunshot wounds. The alarm was sounded by familiar families, after which the officers entered the house and stated the death of 56-year-old David Voight, his 54-year-old wife Amy and their thirteen-year-old daughter. Forensics seized firearms at the scene of the tragedy.
The deceased man was a veteran of the US Navy and served in combat zones, and his wife worked in federal agencies. Neighbors and loved ones noted the man's severe emotional state amid post-traumatic stress disorder in the last months before the incident. The county's medical examiners began a series of autopsies to establish the trajectory of the bullets and the exact time of death of each family member.
The San Diego Police Homicide Investigation Unit is checking the circumstances of the incident as part of the version of a family tragedy followed by suicide. Detectives interview colleagues and neighbors of the victims to reconstruct the picture of previous events.
