Serial maniac charged with murder of sixth girl

In the US state of Oregon, the district attorney’s office of Multnomah County announced the presentation of 39-year-old Jesse Lee Calhoun a new official charge of murder. The grand jury charged the defendant with manslaughter of the first degree against thirty-two-year-old resident of Portland Elizabeth Gibson. According to the investigation, the massacre of the girl occurred at the end of 2022, while her remains are still not found.

Calhoun has already been charged with the premeditated murders of five other young women whose bodies with signs of violent death were found in the forest belts of the Portland neighborhood during 2023. The new charge has expanded the scope of the criminal case, turning the suspect into one of the state's most dangerous serial offenders in recent years.

A court hearing with new charges is scheduled in the district court. Prosecutors said they would continue to search for evidence to finalize the route of concealing the victim's remains and consolidate all episodes before the trial.
