According to the head of the volcano station in the village of Klyuchi Yuri Demyanchuk, the release is most likely associated with the growth of a new dome of the volcano.
Shiveluch is an active volcano, its age is estimated at 60-70,000 years. It includes Old Shiveluch, the ancient caldera and the active Young Shiveluch.
The volcano is located about 50 kilometers from the village of Keys of the Ust-Kamchatka district and 450 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
