Suspects in the murder of 17-year-old Setsuna Shimizu in Sagamihara, Japan, explained the pursuit of a schoolboy alleged theft of a motorcycle

Suspects in the murder of 17-year-old Setsuna Shimizu in Sagamihara, Japan, explained the pursuit of the schoolboy alleged theft of a motorcycle. However, no one stole the transport. Such information was reported by TV Asahi, citing sources familiar with the investigation.
According to journalists, the teenagers saw Shimizu and his friend leave on a motorcycle, and decided that it was stolen. After that, they started a chase and attacked the students. Police are testing the theory that it was a mistaken assumption that caused the violence.
The attack occurred on the night of August 22 in the Tana district of Sagamihara city, Kanagawa Prefecture. Shimizu was traveling with a 14-year-old high school student. They were chased by a car in which, according to investigators, there were four teenagers.
Around 02:40, the attackers caught up with schoolchildren near the vacant site and struck Shimizu on the head. He was hospitalized unconscious. Two days later, the young man died of a brain injury. His companion was also injured.
Four teenagers, aged 16-17, were initially detained on suspicion of causing bodily harm to a younger schoolboy. On September 20, they were re-arrested on suspicion of killing Shimizu.
Kanagawa found a blunt object that could have been used in the beating. Investigators continue to establish the actions of each suspect and verify their testimony.
