SK: unknown via the Internet persuade Belarusians to terrorist attacks on the railway and other facilities for money

Unknown induce citizens of our country to commit acts of terrorism on infrastructure, promising monetary reward. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee, writes sb.by.

“Currently, law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus record cases when unknown persons apply to citizens of our country in messengers and are persuaded to commit especially serious crimes under various pretexts. In particular, there are proposals to commit acts of terrorism on the railway and other infrastructure facilities for monetary remuneration, the investigation department said.

As reported in the UK, the so-called curators are looking for performers in chat messengers and social networks of various orientations. Initially, they enter into a dialogue, form a trusting relationship, find weaknesses through which you can have a psychological impact on a person, and then offer the implementation of criminal intent.

The committee told about the attempt to make an 18-year-old boy the perpetrator of the attack. In the messenger Telegram, an unknown person contacted him, who allegedly offered an easy part-time job, which consisted in setting fire to relay cabinets. The attackers do not hide the fact that the purpose of such action on the territory of Belarus is to violate international logistics with Russia, as well as create conditions for a railway accident and loss of life. The young man immediately reported this to law enforcement.

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus has information about other repeated attempts to recruit our citizens. Such acts are qualified under Article 289 (act of terrorism) of the Criminal Code of Belarus, and the sanction of the article provides for an exceptional measure of punishment.

“Law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus are constantly conducting a set of investigative actions and operational measures to identify destructive and terrorist activities on the territory of our country. Any radical cells will be installed at the stage of formation, and terrorist activities will be stopped at the stage of preparation. We also remind that when suppressing the commission of especially serious crimes, law enforcement officers can use physical force, special means and firearms, the Investigative Committee said.
