Immigration officers shot a man

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot a man in Austin, Texas. This was reported by the city authorities.

According to police, the agent shot during a short walking chase around 13:00 local time. The man was injured in the torso and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson has called for the city police and Texas Rangers to be involved in the investigation. He said ICE should not conduct the inspection on its own.

Congressman Greg Kasar said earlier that ICE had begun detaining more people in Austin. According to him, local residents warned about the risk of such incidents.
