Death toll from passenger ferry crash off Northern Cyprus rises to 20

The death toll from the crash of a passenger ferry off the coast of Northern Cyprus has risen to 20. Rescuers found the body of another person in an ongoing search operation, Turkish Cypriot authorities said.
The identity of the man found has not yet been established. DNA testing will be required for identification. After this discovery, the status of the missing remains for eight people. Search operations in the waters do not stop.
The incident occurred on August 30. Ferry FiloJet overturned about 2.5 kilometers from the coast of the city of Girne. On board the ship were 267 people: 259 passengers and eight crew members. Most of them managed to escape.
The investigation into the causes of the tragedy continues. Earlier, law enforcement authorities detained the captain of the ship and other crew members. Until the latest update, the number of confirmed victims was 19, and the missing list included nine people.
