The incident began with a phone call: unknown, posing as employees of the mobile operator, offered the young man to extend the contract. The teenager agreed and for this purpose reported a code from the SMS.
Soon an imaginary law enforcement officer came in contact with him. He said there had been a data breach and illegal financial transactions were now being conducted on behalf of the young man. Fearing criminal liability, the teenager began to follow all the instructions of the fraudsters. Initially, he “declared” about 2 thousand dollars – parental savings. He allegedly transferred these funds to the collector.
Then the young man met with a 16-year-old student of one of the capital's colleges. According to the instructions received from the scammers, he had to take the package from him and deliver it to the specified location. At the same time, the courier himself believed that he was involved in the “declaration” of money. In fact, the second teenager also fell for the trick of fraudsters.
He was also called under the pretext of extending the contract with a mobile operator, lured the code from SMS, and then intimidated by stories about financial fraud committed on his behalf. As a result, the resident of the capital gave the courier an amount equivalent to about 8 thousand BYN.
This fact is being checked.
