A pensioner stole a bag with a tablet and a doll on the bus and threw things away. What the court decided

Sentenced 70-year-old previously not convicted citizen, who was accused of theft, told the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti” in the Prosecutor’s office of Zavodsk district.

At lunchtime, the accused, while intoxicated, was riding on the bus route 16. On the seat, he noticed a bag he had quietly put in his bag. It contained a doll, a tablet with a charger and a key fob. Since the abductee was of no value to the elderly man, he threw things into the dumpster.

It turned out that the bag on the bus was left by a girl who was traveling with her mother. After the woman turned to the police, the amount of damage was 308.59 BYN.

The identity of the defendant was established on the records of the CCTV camera installed in the cabin, a criminal case was initiated against the man. Guilt in the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted, repented.

- The accused is a pensioner, has not previously been brought to criminal responsibility, said Viktor Klish, senior assistant prosecutor of the Zavodsky district. The court found him guilty of secret theft of property (theft), and on the basis of Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code imposed a fine of 30 basic units (1 350 BYN). In addition, the accused must compensate the victim for the damage caused by the crime.
